Summer Blackout Stocks to Consider Now

Blackouts could be common this summer, we noted on June 16.

With extreme heat and drought, the grid may not be able to handle all the added pressure.  Should that happen, parts of the U.S. could see electricity shortages and blackouts.

As noted by The Wall Street Journal:

“From California to Texas to Indiana, electric-grid operators are warning that power-generating capacity is struggling to keep up with demand, a gap that could lead to rolling blackouts during heat waves or other peak periods as soon as this year.”

Now, a Texas grid operator is warning of potential blackouts.

“The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which operates Texas’ electric power grid, asked households and businesses to conserve power this afternoon and warned of potential rolling blackouts.  The grid faces a “potential reserve capacity shortage with no market solution available,” ERCOT said in a notice released Sunday night. ERCOT asked people to reduce energy consumption between 1400-2000 local time when temperatures are expected to soar into triple-digit territory,” they said.

If that’s the case, some of the top stocks to keep an eye on with potential blackouts, include CleanSpark Inc. (CLSK), Enphase Energy (ENPH).  and Generac Holdings (GNRC).
